Watch the Raw Chutney

The clouds are grey and the breeze is cool here in Punjab. It is the perfect time for hot pakoras (fried fritters) and spicy chaat (savory snacks). But please be a bit careful with the raw chutneys at the street carts right now.

In the monsoon, water and leafy greens like mint or coriander can carry hidden dirt. Even a small spoon of raw sauce from outside might not suit you during the rains.

Enjoy Fresh at Home

You do not have to stop eating your favorites. Just try making them at home instead. Use fresh pudina (mint) washed thoroughly in clean water. Better yet, stick to sauces that have been boiled, like a sweet imli (tamarind) chutney.

A little care goes a long way. Stay dry, keep your food fresh, and enjoy the rain with your family. Rab rakha.
